Regulating Forests: Monitoring the Impacts of the EUDR

This Preview document aims to highlight for a Mandarin speaking audience some of the main discussions and recommendations for the mitigation and resolution of potential conflicts originated by the EUDR’s implementation in Brazil. This analysis was outlined in the Policy Brief 'EUDR's Implementation in Brazil: Addressing Challenges and Fostering Dispute Resolution Alternatives', which was designed by the FGV Rio Law’s Centre for Global Law (CPDG) and Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU-LA Global Challenges (CEJM).

On December 2023, the Center for Global Law at FGV Direito Rio published an update on the New European regulation against deforestation in production chains (EUDR) in Folha de São Paulo. The text, co-authored by professor Paula W. Almeida with researchers Fernando Rangel and Gabriel Ralile, brings important updates regarding the application of the regulation, whose prohibitions will come into force at the end of 2024, as well as pointing out some implementation tools adopted by the Union European.
